INTRODUCTION

Vista VK2 IP cameras supporting VCA (Video Content Analytics) can be configured to signal any “tripping” of an analytic rule to the Viper NVR.

At the Viper NVR any number or actions and responses can be configured – here we show  Push Notification to a remote Android device.

Configuration and setup is carried out at the Viper NVR and “pushed” to the VK2 camera.

SETUP

It is assumed the Viper and IP cameras are already configured and recording; as well as the latest Viper Remote Android being installed and working on your device.

MENU SETUP – VIPER

  • Login to the Viper NVR locally as Admin
  • From the Main menu click Camera -> Advanced -> Video Analytics -> setup (below)

  • The camera’s VCA setup page will now appear, click to Enable VCA (below)

  • Complete the dialogue box and your desired analytics settings, then click [Save], then exit back to the Viper NVR menu.
  • From Viper main menu; click Event -> Motion – use below example and select VCA under [Use] for you desired camera channel.
  • Next click and select [Push] under Notification.

Tip: In the below dialogue box, also initially select Beep = 5 seconds. This will help you to confirm that VCA alerts are received by the NVR from the camera. If notifications are not received later at the Android App, this helps you in diagnosing where the issue lays.

  • Under the Notification menu click and enable [Push] and click [Apply] (below)

  • You’ll be returned to the Motion menu. Now  click the [Schedule] tab to go to Schedule > and set the schedule of Motion/VCA (below) and click [Save]

  • Return to the Viper NVR Main menu and select the menus Event ->  Notification  -> schedule -> set the schedule of Push – example below

This completes the NVR settings, now continue to set the Android app.

MOBILE APP SETTINGS (Android)

The following assumes you have already installed the Viper Remote Android App and added your NVR to the Device list – and all is working.

  • Open the Viper Remote App and tap to select the [Notification] menu.
  • Tap the [Settings] icon in top-right.
  • Slide the selector to enable Notification from the Viper NVR (below) where you have just completed the previous Push Notification set-up.

  • Now “trip” the camera, confirm the Viper NVR initially beeps (if you set Beep=5secs initially) – confirm a Push Notification finally arrives at the Android device (above).
  • Click the Notification, and confirm you can click Go Live or Go Playback.

This completes the procedure.

Note; Push Notifications are sent via Internet and the Viper Cloud - initial Notifications may take a few minutes to initially register and arrive at your mobile device.
