Recent Windows 7 updates (Jul 10-12 2018) introduce an issue that prevents some services from stopping correctly. This effects in problems with the server uninstallation during upgrade.

This is happening on Windows 7 only, depends on network drivers and may or may not happen on your PC.

However, we recommend to uninstall and disable the following updates before upgrading to a newer version or installing a fresh version of qulu:

  • KB4340556
  • KB4338818
  • KB4054530

To uninstall:

  1. Go to Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features -> Installed Updates
  2. Locate the desired update
  3. Right click on it and select "Uninstall"
  4. Repeat the above actions to all the updates

To disable (prevent from further installing):

  1. Go to Control Panel -> System and Security -> Windows Update
  2. Click "Check for Updates". The updates that have been uninstalled should show up
  3. Right click on each update and select "Hide update".

After Microsoft resolves the issue is resolved it will be possible to reinstall the hidden updates:

  1. Go to Control Panel -> System and Security -> Windows Update
  2. Click "Restore Hidden Updates"
  3. Check the desired updates and click "Restore".
