ISSUE

You previously created an export of footage from a Viper DVR\NVR to a device such as a USB memory stick. On trying to run and playback the footage on a Windows PC – by double-clicking .exe file such as VIPER-H5S-16_20190227090201.exe – you receive the Windows error to the right

CAUSE

If your original export was for a large number of cameras or a lengthy period of footage time (hours) then the resulting archive file is possibly larger than 4GB in size. Windows has a “Largest Executable File Size” of 4GB! Therefore, your export .exe file cannot be run or launched directly from within Windows! However, there is a workaround;

WORKAROUND

While Windows will not allow you to open the large .exe export file directly, there is no restriction in using a separate copy of the embedded Viper Clickviewer programme to open the large archive file for you. Simply follow the below;

  • In Windows File Manager; locate your large export .exe file.

  • Rename the file by prefixing the current file name with Clipviewer – as per the example in fig 1

  • Click Links for Support > Download > Vista IP, then folders [Viper] > [Viper Clipviewer] and download to your PC

  • Double-click and launch Clipviewer.exe you just downloaded; once it’s video starts to play click the SQUARE stop key( fig 2).

  • Use the file symbol at the base of the application to browse your PC (fig2) to the location of your larger archive file that you renamed with the Clipviewer prefix.

  • Click to Open the file - your larger export video should now be playable.
