INTRODUCTION 


The following procedure explains how to configure a VK2-IP Camera to record to Micro-SD Card via Motion triggered events.


Prerequisites.

The camera has a Micro SD card fitted. Please see individual camera manuals for supported cards and procedure to fit Micro-SD Card. 

PC or Laptop with Internet Explorer to configure the camera. Camera and PC need to be connected to the same network via a “Ethernet Switch”

“Smart Manager” Discovery tool (available on CD that comes with camera or downloadable via www.vista-cctv.com) installed to discover and Set IP Address {for example 192.168.0.11} The camera supports the operation through the network. When a camera is first connected to the network, it is necessary to allocate an IP address to the device with the “SmartManager” utility. (Default IP 192.168.30.220)


Method

How to Discover and assign IP Address

  • On the PC / Laptop [Start SmartManager utility] (Start > All programs > SmartManager > SmartManager). The main window will display, and after a short while any network devices connected to the network will be displayed in the list. (Fig 1)

  • Select the camera on the list and click right button of the mouse, Pop-up menu displayed. (Fig 2)
  • Select Assign IP Address. The Assign IP window will display. Enter the required IP address.

Access via browser

  • Start Internet Explorer {this is the recommended browser as supports all features of camera}
  • Enter IP address in location/address field on browser {example 192.168.0.11}
  • You will see camera home page. (Fig 4)

  • Click Setup, enter Username and Password details to login (Fig 5)
  • Once logged in will see [Basic Configuration Menu] (Fig 6)
  • Check Time & Date are correct if not, either Sync with computer, point at a NTP Server {if using with a VIPER NVR/DVR you can use the this address as they have a “NTP Server” feature} or manually set (Fig 7) Click [Save] when done
  • Next set up motion area / zone to trigger an event. Click on [Event] then [Event In] then [Motion] tick “Enable video motion detection” the using mouse right click select [New Motion] you will then be able to draw a box / area to trigger event, either select all area or create multiple zones. These areas / zones can be renamed and refined if needed, click [Save]when done (Fig 8)
    • We will use this event to Record to the internal Micro-SD Card later in the procedure

  • Next Click [Event Out] then [Record] If the Micro-SD card is fitted correctly you will see under “Format” > “Device Status” it says ‘Unformatted’, click on [Format] this should display a message saying ‘All data will be deleted, are you sure you wish to continue? Format is need time about 1~2 minute’ click [OK] card will be formatted. (Fig 9)
  • Once Formatted you can tick [Enable Record]and set up (Fig 10)
    • Record mode ~ Stream Type ~ Pre – Post event time ~ Record Schedule ~ Device {Card} Information
  • Click [Save] when done.

  • Next click [Event Map] here we can use the Motion event we set up early to trigger recording to the Micro-SD card
  • Click [Add] ‘Add Event Map’ menu is displayed,
    • Enter name for event “Motion Rec SD Card” for example
    • Event In Type set to [Motion Ch:1, Region:1] If you have set up multiple “Motion areas” you will have to add a map event for each area
    • Tick [Record] then click [OK] to complete set up

How to check Record/View Recording via browser

  • Start Internet Explorer {this is the recommended browser as supports all features of camera}
  • Enter IP address in location/address field on browser {example 192.168.0.11}
  • You will see camera home page. Click on [Live] icon  and login in with username and password, when logged in you can check live video, if you move in front of camera motion will trigger an event
  • Next click on [Playback] icon  here you can check, view events triggered by motion
  • Select start & finish date the click [Go] if there are any events within these dates, they will be displayed in the event list as below

  • You can then click on any occurrence in the list to playback the triggered event via the inbuilt player. (Fig 14)
    • It is also possible to save/copy the event by clicking on the “Clip copy” icon  a separate window will open were you can export the clip as .mp4 file

  • After you have finished you can close the browser
